About Me After obtaining his middle school diploma, he attended the night school for work placement in Arzignano (VI) until 1963. From 1960 to 1964 he was employed as a worker in the family business Conceria Fratelli Mastrotto S.p.A., taking responsibility for the purchase of the raw material necessary to carry out the business activity from 1964. In 1969 Mr. Mastrotto also assumed full responsibility for the activity carried out at the new tannery for the processing of calfskins Conceria BASMAR S.p.A. which his father had set up in Trissino (VI). Since 1977, Mr. Mastrotto has actively participated in the realization of a series of acquisitions (often accompanied by restoration works) of other tanning companies, such as Conceria DUMA S.p.A. of Arzignano (VI) and Conceria Galassia based in Tezze di Arzignano (VI), which were followed from 1985 to 1989 by further acquisitions that contributed to make the Rino Mastrotto Group one of the most important tanning groups in the world. From 1990 to 1999 Mr. Mastrotto took over the chairmanship of SICIT, a position he still holds today, being at the same time a partner. From December 1994 to June 2003 Mr. Mastrotto was a member of the Board of Directors of Acque del Chiampo S.p.A., the industrial and civil sewerage consortium of the municipalities of Arzignano, Chiampo and Montorso. From 1992 to 1998 Mr. Mastrotto was a Director of UNIC (Unione Nazionale Industria Conciaria di Milano), becoming its Vice President in 1999, then Deputy Vice President and then President in 2011, contributing to the development of training and research programmes. Since 1992 Mr. Mastrotto has also been an advisor to the CFP (Centro Formazione Professionale) of Trissino (VI), a vocational school. In December 1997, Mr. Mastrotto reached an agreement with the Brazilian Bertin brothers, active in the slaughtering and meat distribution sector, for the construction of a tannery in Brazil, State of Cearà. The Join-Venture with the Bertin brothers is named BERMAS Ltda and Rino Mastrotto takes over the Vice Presidency of the Board of Directors (currently Sole Director). In 2007, following an internal restructuring, the activity of BERMAS Ltda is split into two companies and Rino Mastrotto becomes Sole Director of the Bermas Maracanau Ltda. In 1999 Mr. Mastrotto decided to set up a new company in the South of Italy for the refinement of hides for the upholstered furniture sector, called CALBE SUD S.p.A., (subsequently renamed "APELLE S.p.A.", of which it assumed the Chairmanship of the Board of Directors). In 2005, Mr. Mastrotto established the commercial company VIENTOS S.A. with headquarters in Paraguay. In 2010 Mr. Mastrotto acquired a new production structure in Sweden, taking over important assets of the company Elmo Leather AB in bankruptcy proceedings, later renamed Elmo Sweden AB, purchasing these assets from the trustee of these bankruptcy proceedings. Finally, from June 2012 to June 2014 Mr. Mastrotto was Chairman of COTANCE (Confederation of European Tanners Associations) and from March 2014 to March 2016 he was Chairman of ICT (International Council of Tanners).
