Matteo Carlotti

Director

After graduating with honors in Business Administration at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, he began his career in the early nineties at Mediocredito delle Venezie. From 1992 to 1997, Matteo Carlotti worked as investment manager at Chase Capital Partners Italia where he was involved in several private equity investments, among them: Imbac, Omim, Tecnologistica and Trader. In addition, he was project manager responsible for Chase Gemina Italia's involvement in the privatization program in Poland. In 1997, Matteo Carlotti started working at Argos Soditic Italia S.p.A. where he was responsible for fund raising (Euroknights IV and V) and investments in Italy (start-up, BIMBO, pre-IPO and Buy&Build) taking on the role of partner, member of the Pan-European Investment Committee and Chairman of Argos Soditic Italia S.p.A. From 1997 to 2009, Matteo Carlotti also held the position of non-executive member of the Board of Directors in all AS funds' subsidiaries. From 2009 to 2017, Matteo Carlotti worked as an independent private equity professional, assuming the position of non-operating Chairman in a number of industrial companies, such as Bracchi S.r.l., Zetagi S.r.l., Primat S.p.A. and Isem S.r.l. In June 2011, Matteo Carlotti was co-founder and executive director of the company Made in Italy 1 S.p.A., the first SPAC under Italian law with financial instruments admitted to trading on AIM Italia. In February 2012, the relevant transaction, following which Made in Italy 1 S.p.A. merged the operating company Sesa S.p.A., Italian leader in the distribution of IT value for SMEs, which was subsequently listed on the MTA and, currently on STAR, became effective. In October 2013, Matteo Carlotti was co-founder and executive chairman of GreenItaly 1 S.p.A., the first "thematic" SPAC under Italian law with financial instruments admitted to trading on AIM Italia, specialized in the so-called green economy. In December 2015 the relevant transaction, following which GreenItaly 1 S.p.A. merged with the operating company Prima Vera S.p.A., Italian leader in the provision of energy saving services to energy-intensive companies, became effective. In the company resulting from the merger, renamed Zephyro S.p.A., Matteo Carlotti held the position of Director until July 2018. Matteo Carlotti was also from 2003 to 2009 member of the Board of Directors of A.I.F.I. (Italian Private Equity Association) and from 2005 to 2009 Italian representative on the board of directors of E.V.C.A. (European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association). Matteo Carlotti has taught private equity at the Business School of Politecnico di Milano and at AIAF, AIFI and EVCA courses. He has also published several contributions on the subject, including a well-known manual (Private Equity Techniques) published by Egea-Bocconi.
